A Report On C-E Translation Of Method Statement For Concrete Filling Of THE SUN Project

With the deepening of China's reform and opening-up and the further implementation of the Belt and Road Initiative,the construction industry of China has developed rapidly.At present,China's overseas construction projects have also been expanded to all parts of the world,and the English translation of the method statement of the project has become more and more frequent.Accurate translation of the method statement is an important guarantee for the successful implementation of overseas projects.At the same time,it will also help China set up its national image of cooperation,development,and responsibility in the international construction industry.This translation practice report selects the “Method Statement for Concrete Filling of THE SUN Project”(hereinafter referred to as “Method Statement”)of the Overseas Branch of China Construction Third Engineering Bureau for English translation.The “Method Statement” provides a detailed introduction to the engineering overview,construction and deployment of the filling plan,resource allocation,and safety measures of the Kaide THE SUN project department in Ho Chi Minh City,Vietnam.The English translation of the “Method Statement” is conducive to the technical exchange and cooperation between the two sides of the project department,ensuring the successful implementation of the filling plan and achieving the best results of the project construction.The original text is a typical scientific and technological text which contains a lot of architectural terms and complex construction steps with objective and highly professional language overall.Taking the Skopos Theory as the theoretical guide,the author combines the three principles of the Skopos Theory,including Skopos,Coherence,and Fidelity Rules with the English translation of engineering construction texts.During the English translation of the “Method Statement”,the author analyzed the key and difficult points in the “Method Statement” from the vocabulary,sentence,and text levels,and listed typical cases in translation.At the same time,the problems and solutions are analyzed and summarized in the translation process.When translating,the author used multiple translation methods such as combination,literal translation,omission,and conversion to make the translation more accurate and coherent,being consistent with the reading habits of English readers.The author spares no effort to realize the information transmission and guidance function of the English edition of “Method Statement”.Accurate translation of the “Method Statement” can promote technical exchanges and cooperation between China and Vietnam.It has important practical significance for the smooth implementation of the entire project.It is hoped that the writing of this translation report can make engineering translation more concerned by scholars and translation practitioners and promote communication and discussion in the field of engineering translation.
