In recent years, international exchanges have become increasingly frequent between China and the rest of the world in terms of politics, economy as well as culture. At the same time,Chinese readers' demand for reading in foreign languages has continued to expand. The increasing use of foreign languages reading has not only enriched the spiritual life of the Chinese people, but also encouraged the rapid development of translation within China. However, while the demand for translation continues to rise, professional research on translating travelogue text is still insufficiency in this country.Chapter 5 of the travelogue Once around the World: Alone as a young woman through Africa written by Michaela Gruber has been selected as the translation practice text given that the book not only records what she experienced in Africa, but also stimulates readers' curiosity. The travelogue also has value in promotion of different cultures. When considering the characteristics of the travelogue,it has been found that the selected text mainly belongs to the comprehensive and informative styles of text, including expressive and vocative aspects, consistent with Newmark's Text Typology Theory. Therefore, corresponding translation skills have been adopted to ensure that the target language readers experience the same expression effect as the original readers of the text. The purpose is to explore the specific application of these skills in the practice of travelogue translation utilizing the Text Typology Theory,so as to improve the quality of travelogue translation and give full play to the crucial role of travelogue translation in cross-cultural communication.Through this translation practice, the translator has achieved a deeper understanding of Newmark's Text Typology Theory. At the same time, she also has utilized the techniques of travelogue translation, thus achieving an improved appreciation of the local conditions and customs of Uganda in Africa.Last but not least, the translator has accumulated invaluable experience for future translation practice.Figure 0;Table 1;Reference 34...
