With the rapid development of tourism industry in China,the abundant natural landscapes and unique culture and local customs attract people from all over the world.As the increasing communication and deeper exchange between tourism institutes,more tourism institutes in China pass the TedQual certification of World Tourism Organization,and therefore,the demand for translation of the audit reports would be increasing.The translation of the audit reports would be beneficial for tourism institutes in China to learn their strengths and weaknesses,enhancing the cultivation of tourism programs as well as the sense of international service of qualified employees in tourism.There is seldom scholar introduce the system through translation report by far.The audit report of Guilin Tourism University was received in June of 2016,which is a key part of auditing TedQual project,certificating two programs from six indexes.This is an English-Chinese translation.The source text was formed in formal language and clear structure.According to Newmark's classification of text types,the audit report presents a strong characteristic of informative function,and meanwhile a subtle expressive function.The author tries to discuss the translation under the guidance of Newmark's text typology theory and communicative translation.The combination of the objectivity of informative text and subjectivity of expressive language is a focus during the translation practice.The thesis records the translation process from preparation to quality control on the basis of translation practice.The author illustrates her thoughts through case study and wishes it would be beneficial for future research.
