A Report Of Tour Interpreting For The Finnish National Team During 2019 China Mixed Doubles Curling Match

As taking part in the Winter Olympics for the first time in 1980,China has paid more attention to snow and ice sports.China becomes the host of the 24 th Winter Olympic Games in 2022,which will not only attract the world's outstanding ice and snow athletes to participate in the match but also promote the development of sports in China.With the development of China's ice and snow sports,more and more international matches are being held in China.This tendency boosts the need for interpreters to provide interpreting services for more athletes and on more occasions.In addition to interpreting in arenas,they also disseminate Chinese culture outside,showing the charm of Chinese scenic spots and historical sites to foreigners.During the 2019 Hebei International Mixed Doubles Curling Open Tournament in China,the author provided tour interpreting services for the Finnish national team,conducting interpreting practical experience for five days,and this report is based on the tour interpreting task of the practical experience.During this tournament,the author mainly interpreted for the Finnish national team when they participated in the matches,visited scenic spots,and had daily conversations.This practical experience report is primarily divided into four chapters: Chapter one describes the interpreting tasks,including the background and characteristics of the task and the host's requirements of the author.Chapter two describes the interpreting process,including the preparation for interpreting,the glossary establishment,the implementation of interpreting,the host's feedback,and the self-evaluation.Chapter three analyzes the application of schema theory and the interpreting cases.Under the guidance of cultural schema theory,the author makes a case study of the interpreting of tourist signs and tourist guide words.At the same time,the author chooses the corresponding interpreting tactics under different circumstances.The author uses activation of schema,accommodation of schema,and reconstruction of schema to cope respectively with overlap of schema,conflict of schema,and default of schema.The author analyzes the problems in interpreting practical experience carefully and chooses effective methods for interpreting;Chapter four provides a general reflection on the practical experience from several perspectives,including the professional quality for conducting the interpreting,the requirements of the author's professional skills,and the inspiration for future study and work.Through this interpreting practical experience,the author gained a deep understanding of the comprehensive requirements regarding the interpreter's professional,psychological,and physical qualities.This report aims to give insight into cultural schema theory and interpreting tactics so as to provide reference related to similar interpreting practice...
