As an important part of cultural soft power,national image has always been the focus of attention.As an important medium of communication,documentary has always been responsible for spreading the image of the country.In recent years,documentaries about the image of the country have been constantly emerging,among which the documentary with the theme of food culture is especially popular with the audience.Food literature documentary is not only a description of diet,but also shows Chinese culture.The emergence of food culture documentary provides a new idea for the construction of national image from the cultural dimension,which is a concrete display of the national cultural image of our country.This paper takes Chinese food culture documentary as the research object,uses various theories,such as narratology and cross-cultural communication,and analyzes the national cultural image construction of Chinese food culture documentary with comparative analysis and content analysis.On the basis of combing the literature about documentary and national image at home and abroad,this paper first analyzes the concept of national image,clarifies the cross-cultural communication nature of the national image and its comprehensive characteristics,and taking this as the logical starting point of this paper,further analyzes the relationship between Chinese food culture documentary and national image,and thinks that the food culture documentary shows the image of Chinese country from the cultural dimension.self-construction of national cultural image.Secondly,on the basis of the above views and argumentation,using narratology theory and cross-cultural communication theory,this paper analyzes the way of constructing the national cultural image and the concrete cultural image of the food culture documentary,and through the comparison with the foreign food culture documentary,finds out the difference between the two construction ways.Finally,this paper studies the foreign communication situation of domestic food culture documentary,first analyzes the general situation of foreign communication of food culture documentary from the whole,then analyzes the cross-cultural communication effect of food culture documentary from the aspects of foreign media evaluation and foreign audience reaction.
