A Study Of Shanxi Xiangtuzhi In Late Qing Dynasty And Early Republican China

In late Qing dynasty,as a result of the school reform,launching local education,releasing some decrees and a framework to direct the compilation,a kind of new version-Xiangtuzhi-appeared.Until the early years of the Republic of China,Xiangtuzhi still played an important role in schools.So it is necessary to study it.The article selects 13 kinds of ShanXi Xiangtuzhi in late Qing and early Republic of China,discussing the main appearances and characteristics of local education in ShanXi during two periods.The full text contains three parts.The introduction part presents this topic's origin,and the current research status.There is no comprehensive and systematic research on ShanXi Xiangtuzhi,which providing the possibility for the selection of topic.The second part is the main part of the article,which is divided into three chapters,discussing the background,achievements and the meaning of Shanxi Xiangtuzhi compilation.ShanXi Xiangtuzhi was not only the epochal product of the reform in late Qing Dynasty,but also presented the local characteristics different from the coastal areas due to local difference.Generally speaking,the subject form and spoken narrative have become the main trend of Xiangtuzhi compilation;the content have more focused on the guidance of actual life and conveyed local culture,traditional loyalty and Confucianism were still retained in the concept.Although it failed to reflect the thoughts of saving the nation through industry,it began to adapt passively and explore carefully,opening people's wisdom and improving the society.At the same time,from the compilation to the use of Xiangtuzhi,in addition to the selection of text content,it also involved the communication,interaction and integration between the compilation group,local officials and local gentry,showing the interactive relationship between local and national consciousness.At that time,"patriotism from the love of the county" has become social consensus.Using as teaching materials,Xiangtuzhi has become historical supplements,and enlightened children's knowledge by "from near to far" teaching method.ShanXi Xiangtuzhi has also tried to cultivate students' regional identity and establish their national cognition with the constructionmethod of people-town-state.The third part is the conclusion,which makes a general review and summary of ShanXi Xiangtuzhi.
