Compilation And Printing Of Hunan Morality Books From The Qing Dynasty To The Republic Of China

At the end of Ming Dynasty and the beginning of Qing Dynasty,the rites collapsed.At that time,people promoted morality books in combination with the the Three Teachings in One thought,in order to restore the hearts of the world and the people,and set off a far-reaching movement of morality books.To put it simply,the morality book is a kind of popular education books that has been circulated among the people to persuade people to quit evil and benevolent books that help people accumulate blessings.The topic puts the morality books compiled by Hunan people and the morality books compiled by foreigners in Hunan into the category of Hunan morality books.Since the beginning of the 20 th century,scholars at home and abroad have conducted different degrees of research on morality books from different perspectives.However,when scholars study the morality books in a certain area,they focus on the areas where the book engraving industry is prosperous in our country.At present,there are only a handful of scholars paying attention to the morality books in Hunan.In view of this,after consulting a large number of literature materials,this article uses the literature research method,comparative method,and induction method to make a preliminary discussion on the compilation of Hunan morality books from the Qing Dynasty to the Republic of China.First,on the basis of combing the research results of the predecessors,the concept of the morality book is defined from the broad and narrow sense,and the classification of the morality book is discussed.Secondly,compilation and printing are two important links of morality books,first briefly explain the compilation of morality books in the Past Dynasties in Hunan,and then combined with the history of morality book,summarizing the compilation main body of Hunan Sentences and its compilation.Again,from the morality book of literature,the source of funding of Hunan’s morality book and the current time and place of the existing literature are mainly engaged,from official engraving,mill block-printing,private engraving,temple engraving and the charity associations and charity halls engraving.The mill block-printing and the charity associations and charity halls engraving played a vital role in it.Finally,the characteristics and contributions of morality books are compiled and printed.Traditional society infiltrated moral concepts into all classes of society through texts such as morality books,which promoted social stability at that time,and also provided a reference for today’s ideological and moral construction.
