China's politics,economy and culture has greatly developed since the launch of “Belt and Road” Initiative.The “Belt and Road” policy helps bridge the communicative gap while the Chinese culture is going abroad.Tourism play an important role in the promotion of the Chinese culture,and a calling card for China's cultural exchange.The San Qing Mountain is one of 5A scenic spots in Jiangxi Province.It enjoys a high cultural value as well as an immense geological value.Precise translation of its Chinese introduction builds a positive and vivid image of the mountain,which in turn attracts more tourists,enhance their enthusiasm and boost the city's overall profile.This translation practice report focuses on a 10000-word English translation work from the third chapter “The Painting Scroll of the Mountain and Water Verve” in the Chinese book San Qing Mountain-China's Most Beautiful Taoism Mountain,chosen at the request of a tourist agency.This chapter introduces distinctive tourist destinations in the San Qing Mountain in a coherent and elegant language and a flexible linguistic style.It comprises of extensive cultural knowledge,historical anecdotes and literary allusions.In view of this,the major principle of translating this chapter lies in disseminating the Chinese culture,conveying vital historical and cultural information to foreign tourists,and demonstrating the charm of the time-honored Chinese culture.Meanwhile,the English translation underscores the aesthetic function of a tourism text with an attempt of inspiring foreign tourists' curiosity.This report includes four chapters.The first chapter introduces the translation task,the client's requirements for the translator,and the purpose and significance of this translation practice report.The second chapter elaborates on the whole process of translating,which breaks down into preparatory work before translating,issues during translating,and reviewing and proof-reading after translating.The third chapter pinpoints particular translation cases in order to reveal difficulties that shows up during translating and discuss the translation methods.The fourth chapter related to the conclusion and reflection of this translation practice work.The report aims to enhance translators' understanding of translation work of a tourism text,and adds to the existing literature about translation of a tourism text.
