A Practice Report On Simulative Interpretation Of "Made By Google 2018"

With the economic progress and the development of science and technology,smart products such as mobile phones are being updated every year,and they occupy a large proportion in people's daily life.Every year,various types of flagship mobile phones were published to attract worldwide attention.The material selected for this interpretation project is the Pixel series product launch event held by Google in New York in October 2018.At the new product launch event,Google mainly launched two sizes of mobile phones,namely Pixel3,Pixel3XL;and a tablet named Pixel Slate;and a laptop named Pixel Book;and a smart home device with screen named Google Home Hub,etc.The author simulated interpretation of the live video of the launch event,and further analyzed difficulties in the interpretation process.This practice report is mainly divided into five parts.The first part is a specific introduction to the interpretation project,including background information,a detailed analysis of characteristics of scientific and technological interpretations,as well as the practical significance of selecting this material.The second part is an introduction to the process of the interpretation project,including the pre-task preparation stage,such as the glossary preparation,and the theoretical preparation.According to the characteristics of scientific and technological texts,this thesis chooses Gile's Effort Model theory as the main guiding theory,which pointed out that consecutive interpretation preformed in two phases,namely,the listening and note-taking phase and the speech production phase.Then,this thesis introduces the overall process of the interpretation and the feedback from audiences and self-evaluations.The third part is a key chapter,which analyzes specific cases based on the interpreting tactics guided by the Effort Model theory.The fourth part is a practice summary,including the limitations of this report and suggestions for future learning.This report analysis on the practice of simulated interpretation of Google 2018 new product launch event.It is found that good use of interpretation skills plays an important role in the rational allocation of interpreter energy and the production of better interpretation.The author hopes that it can provide some effective reference for interpreters to develop various training strategies,so as to allocate their energies reasonably and improve their interpreting skills.
