| Culture is a nationalistic soul that plays an essential role in daily life.China,a country embodied with over five thousand years of excellent history and a huge number of historical sites,enjoys its splendid culture,which deeply influences every aspect of our daily lives.Nowadays,China continues to take an open and inclusive approach to cultural communication among different countries and regions,achieving cultural confidence.And China carries forward its own typical culture through various channels while social media especially television media is a good way to promote Chinese traditional culture.The interpretation text is taken from two episodes of one series of The Grand View Garden of Culture,a famous television program,by which Chinese traditional writing tools,four treasures of Chinese study,can be introduced in turn under the leadership of the host,Wang Luxiang.The first episode of this series aired on February 18,2017 focuses on Chinese rice paper that is featured by its collection value.At the same time,Luo Min,the inheritor of rice paper from Hongxin rice paper factory in Jing County,together with Xu Weixing,a scholar from Anhui Province tells the audience a story about the development of historical Chinese writing tool,rice paper.And in the second episode aired on February 25,2017,the program pays attention to ink stone and makes an introduction to a collector,Zhou Xiaoling,who is dying to promote Chinese culture,together with his studio,Sanbai ink stone studio.The writer aims to interpret the text of a video program under the supervision of Lin Yutang's translation theory while Lin's translation criteria are faithfulness,fluency and beauty.In the face of different cultures,Lin chooses some translation strategies to cope with the problem of cultural default during the process of translation,which include cultural compensation,cultural borrowing,cultural transposition and cultural deletion.Resulted from this,it is practical to apply Lin Yutang's translation theory to different kinds of translations as well as interpretation featured by culture.The writer decides to analyze the text from two perspectives,lexical level and syntactic level with the help of four translation strategies including cultural compensation,cultural borrowing,cultural transposition and cultural deletion.In this case,Lin's translation criteria can be met and the target readers raised in anotherculture will understand the text better.On the front of lexical level,the writer mainly places emphasis on the problems of how to deal with cultural-loaded words and how to introduce the culture and historical background behind the words so as to make the target readers get to the idea that the source text conveys.When it comes to syntactic level,the writer attaches the importance to linguistic characteristics of two languages and differences between them from the perspective of culture.What's more,the writer interprets the text to the target language that caters for the reader's syntactic usage while remaining the original feature in order to let the readers understand the main idea of the source text and its inner culture.Furthermore,to ensure the quality of the practice interpreting,the writer interprets the source text twice that analyzes those errors after the first practice of interpretation like misinterpretation and missing of interpretation so as to make progress in interpretation and better fulfill the project of the second practice.In the end,the writer summarizes the difficulties and problems that occur during the interpretation practice and examples with regard to cultural default so as to prevent same problems from happening again and lay the solid foundation for interpretation and translation in the future.Last but not the least,after the practice,the writer has realized the fact that translation and interpretation are not just the transformation of language but also that of the culture inside,that is,cross-cultural communication. |
