Objective: This study takes social support as a mediator of the influence between personality traits of higher vocational students and entrepreneurial intentions,further explores the role of personality traits of higher vocational students on entrepreneurial intentions,and proposes strategies for improving the entrepreneurial intention of higher vocational students.Methods: A total of 690 questionnaires from various higher vocational colleges in Changsha were distributed by the “Big Five Personality Questionnaire”,“Social Support Rating Scale” and“Entrepreneurial Intention Questionnaire”.The valid questionnaires was640.The effective rate is 92.75%.Results:1.There are significant differences in gender in entrepreneurial intentions.Higher vocational boys are significantly higher than girls in terms of entrepreneurial feasibility and entrepreneurial desirability.2.Higher vocational students' entrepreneurial intentions are related to personality traits.Extroversion has a significant positive correlation with entrepreneurial feasibility(?=0.230,p=0.000),entrepreneurial propensity(?=0.280,p=0.000)and entrepreneurial desirability(?= 0.341,p=0.000);Neuroticism has a significant negative impact on entrepreneurial propensity(?=-0.072,p=0.046)and entrepreneurialdesirability(?=-0.087,p=0.023);Conscientiousness has a significant positive impact on entrepreneurial feasibility(?=0.226,p=0.000),entrepreneurial propensity(?=0.280,p=0.000)and entrepreneurial desirability(?=0.214,p=0.000);Openness has a significant positive impact on entrepreneurial propensity(?=0.313,p=0.000)and entrepreneurial desirability(?=0.118,p=0.038).3.Entrepreneurial intention has an impact on social support.Objective support has a limited positive impact on entrepreneurial propensity(?=0.099,p=0.017);Subjective support has a positive impact on entrepreneurial feasibility(?=0.301,p=0.000),entrepreneurial propensity(?=0.229,p=0.000)and entrepreneurial desirability(?=0.303,p=0.000);The use of social support has a positive impact on entrepreneurial propensity(?=0.136,p=0.001)),entrepreneurial desirability(? = 0.129,p = 0.001).4.The role of social support in the intermediaries between personality traits and entrepreneurial intentions is embodied as:(1)Objective support plays a full intermediary role between extroversion and entrepreneurial propensity(?=0.019,p=0.040),and partially mediate between agreeableness and entrepreneurial propensity(?=-0.0169,p=0.020).(2)The subjective support plays a partial intermediary role between conscientiousness and entrepreneurial feasibility(?=0.032,p=0.013),and plays a full intermediary role between conscientiousness and entrepreneurial propensity(?=0.023,p=0.017),which plays a partial intermediary role between conscientiousness and entrepreneurial desirability(?=0.030,p=0.012);Subjective support plays a partialintermediary role between agreeableness and entrepreneurial feasibility(?=0.034),p=0.012),partially mediating between agreeableness and entrepreneurial propensity(?=0.025,p=0.017),and partially mediating between agreeableness and entrepreneurial desirability(?=0.032,p=0.011).Subjective support plays a full mediating role between extroversion and entrepreneurial feasibility(?=-0.035,p=0.001),and plays a full mediating role between extroversion and entrepreneurial propensity(?=-0.026,p=0.002).It has a complete mediating effect between extroversion and entrepreneurial desirability(?=-0.034,p=0.001).(3)The use of social support plays a partial intermediary role between agreeableness and entrepreneurial propensity(?=0.017,p=0.036),and partially mediating between agreeableness and entrepreneurial desirability.(?=0.017,p=0.046).Conclusion: 1.Gender has an impact on the entrepreneurial intention of higher vocational students.The entrepreneurial intention of higher vocational boys is significantly higher than girls;2.The dimensions of entrepreneurial intentions of higher vocational students are affected by personality traits and social support;3.Social Support plas a partial ntermediary role between personality traits of vocational students and entrepreneurial intentions.
