As an important part of the appellation system,generic appellation plays an important role in interpersonal communication and is a necessary condition for smooth and effective communication.At the same time,it is also a rich cultural wealth accumulated by the development of the Chinese nation over thousands of years,which represents the traditional Chinese cultural concepts.Because of this,the correct use of universal appellation represents the Chinese proficiency of foreign students,so the teaching of universal appellation has always been a major difficulty in teaching Chinese as a foreign language.However,the research results on the teaching of general appellation are very limited.Therefore,under the guidance of the second language acquisition theory,this paper makes a specific study on the acquisition of international students' universal appellation,and puts forward specific teaching principles and methods.The thesis is mainly composed of six parts:In the introduction,the research significance,research contents and objects,research theories and methods of this paper are briefly explained,and the research status of symmetric predicates,social predicates and universal predicates is summarized.The first chapter firstly defines the general appellation to be studied in this paper,and divides the general appellation into three categories: general appellation borrowed from kinship appellation,general appellation and new general appellation.Then,through comparative analysis,this paper describes the semantic and pragmatic evolution of the typical generic appellation and general appellation borrowed from kinship appellation,analyzes the generation and development of the new generic appellation from the perspectives of etymology and word formation,and summarizes the reasons for the evolution and development of the generic appellation.Finally,on the basis of ontology research,the significance of universal appellation in teaching Chinese as a foreign language is discussed.The second chapter gives a brief introduction to the oral textbooks of DevelopingChinese,and makes statistics on the common appellation of different types and their occurrence times.It is found that the quantity and difficulty of generic appellation in textbooks increase with the improvement of textbook level,which is in accordance with the scientific and systematic principle.However,the author also found that the textbooks were annotated in English,which caused a burden for some foreign students to learn Chinese.In chapter three,through questionnaires and the analysis of the use of universal appellations in HSK dynamic composition corpus,the errors in the use of universal appellations by overseas students are understood,and the reasons for the errors are summarized.The fourth chapter puts forward the corresponding teaching principles according to the causes of errors,and introduces the teaching methods such as situational teaching method,associative teaching method and natural teaching method.The conclusion summarizes the research and points out the shortcomings of this paper.
