The Annotations of Ancient Tang Poems also known as The Annotations of Ancient Tang Poems note,is a compilation of poetry compiled by Wang Yaoqu of the Qing Dynasty. It consists of two parts: ancient poetry and Tang poetry.Although scholars criticized it at that time,as a poetry anthology widely circulated from the Qing Dynasty to the Republic of China, from the perspective of poetry dissemination,it could have a large number of readers. With the deepening of research, the academic circles have fully affirmed the selection and The Annotations of Ancient Tang Poems, but little attention has been paid to the ancient poems. This article focuses on the ancient poetry part of The Annotations of Ancient Tang Poems as the key research object, and examines its basic content and uniqueness in the three aspects of compilation, interpretation, and comment, and explores the reasons for its widespread. The first chapter discusses the compilation style and standard of Wang Yaoqu's The Annotation of Ancient Poems. The interpretation of ancient poems by Wang Yaoqu inherits the compiling style of Tang Rue's The Annotation of Ancient Poems, taking the times as the classics and taking the style of poetry as the weft. And the ancient poems,Chinese songs,Yuefu, poems are arranged in the order of poems, which reflects the poetic thoughts that are about to change.Wang's selection of poems takes Tang Rue's The Annotation of Ancient Poems as the main source, and pays more attention to the popularity of poetry. He strives to understand the choices clearly and is often recited by people;he also favors implicit poetry and ancient poetry. The second chapter discusses the poetry interpretation features of Wang Yaoqu's The Annotation of Ancient Poems.Wang Yaoqu borrowed from Tang Rue and Tang Ruxun's method of interpreting ancient poems, refined the theme of the poems, elaborated the content of the text, and was good at grasping the uniqueness of the description and structure of the poems. The interpretation of poems by Wang Yaoqu uses the method of "decomposition" created by Jin Shengtan to classify the poems in layers, which makes the narrative texts more logical and clear.According to the different content and length of the poems,we can flexibly choose the form of interpreting the poems, accurately grasp the context of the poetry, andensure the process of interpreting the poems is concise and refined. The third chapter discusses Wang Yaoqu's commentary methods and concepts of Ancient Poetry.Wang Yaoqu's comments include two ways: sentence-sentence appreciation and overall evaluation. They focus on the analysis of the poetry's words and ideas, and judge the virtues of the authors and the characters written in the poems. In the commentary of poems,he expounded Ye Xie's saying that the source and flow are changing.Wang Yaoqu's poetic criticism has a more obvious ideological tendency.Poetry based on sentiment is the main guiding ideology of commenting on ancient poems. On poem based on elegant,we can see that Wang Yaoqu has both aesthetics of Confucianism and Taoism.
