Recently, more and more attention has been paid to the issue of solid waste since it has caused a lot of negative influences on the environment, and the management of solid waste may be an essential part of environmental treatment in the future.Solid waste management in Africa,Asia,Europe,Latin America,Caribbean, and North America is depicted in Solid Waste Management, and its translation can help domestic readers learn more about solid waste management around the world, and can also be used as references for other translators in this field. The original text for this report is excerpted from Solid Waste Management, which is a scientific text with logicality, accuracy, and objectiveness in style and tightly constructed structure in syntax. The translator selects Chapter Two from this science book as the source text, which shows the status of solid waste management in various regions and countries throughout Asia. There are a variety of logical relationships in the source text, and their reproduction depends on conjunction.According to Cohesion Theory proposed by Halliday and Hasan, conjunction as one of the cohesive devices, can indicate logical relationships in a scientific text.Four main logical relationships, causal relationship, adversative relationship, temporal relationship and developing relationship are obviously exposed in the source text. After exploring the differences of logic expressions and conjunctions between the two language texts, this report relates the representations of narrative logic in the original text to conjunction in the target text, and discusses translation strategies for logical relationships in a scientific text. The report consists of six chapters. The first chapter provides a brief overview of the research background. The second chapter describes the source text and the translation process, including preparations, translation, and proofreading. The third chapter examines the characteristics and logicality of scientific texts. The fourth chapter introduces Cohesion Theory and the relationship between logic and conjunction which is one of the cohesive devices. The fifth chapter proposes five translation strategies, including amplification, omission, literal translation, restructuring, and conversion, and illustrates them with examples from the translation practice. The sixth chapter puts forwards some major findings, and points out the limitations of the translation practice.
