Industrial agglomeration is an important feature of industrial development.Industrial agglomeration affects economic growth by generating agglomeration effects and external effects. The culture industry tends to be industrial agglomeration like other industries.Does the relationship between traditional industrial agglomeration and economic growth and its mechanism of action apply equally to culture industry? Regarding cultural industry agglomeration and economic growth as the research object, using the theory of economic growth, industrial agglomeration and cultural industry agglomeration, combined with the characteristics of culture industry, this paper researches the impact of cultural industry agglomeration on economic growth and its mechanism of action.Based on the inter provincial panel data of China from 2012 to 2016,this paper first uses the location entropy index to measure the level of cultural industry agglomeration in each province(city, autonomous region)in China, and puts forward the hypothesis of the relationship between cultural industry agglomeration and economic growth based on relevant theories and descriptive statistics;then, empirically analyzes the impact of cultural industry agglomeration on the economic growth of the region and its neighboring regions by establishing static panel regression model and spatial econometric regression model. The main conclusions are as follows:Firstly, whether in terms of total volume, industry,or region,China's culture industry has developed rapidly. However, the added value of China's culture industry accounts for a small proportion of GDP.The market share of the traditional culture industry has been declining and the development model needs to be changed. The development of culture industry among regions is not balanced.Secondly, the level of cultural industry agglomeration in the eastern region of China is greater than that in the central and western regions, but the level of cultural industry agglomeration in the eastern region has been declining. The level of cultural industry agglomeration in the central and western regions has been rising, and the annual average level of cultural industry agglomeration in the central and western regions is growing faster than the eastern region.Among them, the level of cultural industry agglomeration has been growing rapidly in the middle and upper reaches of the Yangtze River Economic Belt.Thirdly,Cultural industry agglomeration has significantly promoted the non-linear economic growth, and with the improvement of the level of agglomeration,it shows a marginal decreasing trend. It is located in the left half of the "inverted U" curve, and has no obvious inhibitory effect on economic growth. The regression analysis of spatial adjacent weight matrix and spatial economic distance matrix not only supports this conclusion, but also finds that the cultural industry agglomeration in the central and western regions has spillovereffect on the economic growth of adjacent regions. Finally, based on the research conclusions, three policy recommendations are proposed:(1)It is necessary to coordinate the development of culture industry and achieve a balanced development of culture industry in all regions;(2)The culture industry should be rationally developed to ensure that the level of cultural industry agglomeration is at the best scale;(3)It is necessary to coordinate the development of culture industry, unblock the spillover channels of cultural industry agglomeration and promote high-quality economic development.
