With the development of China' s politics,economy and culture,its comprehensive national strength has been continuous enhanced,China's position in the world has been further improved.As a medium of communication between China and the world,Chinese language has been attracting more and more attention in the international community.Many countries choose to establish Chinese-teaching courses with China to promote cooperation and communication.The United States has not only close cooperation with Chinese Confucius Institutes,but also many local high schools and universities have offered Chinese elective courses at different levels.Chinese language plays a key role in political and economic cooperation between China and the United States,which makes Chinese language become pluses in job hunting and promotes the essential role of it.This investigation demonstrates a retrograde survey of the Chinese language curriculum at the University of Illinois at Chicago.This investigation is analyzed from five chapters.Chapter One is a survey on the current situations of Chinese course offering in American universities at home and abroad.Through the survey,the background of the survey on the University of Illinois at Chicago is elaborated,the objects of the survey are pointed out and the research ideas and methods are displayed.Chapter Two is a survey of the current situation of the Chinese language curriculum at the University of Illinois at Chicago.It mainly investigates the curriculum,teachers,students and the distribution of teaching resources.It conducts a comprehensive and systematic survey and data collation of the Chinese language curriculum in the University from these four aspects.Chapter Three analyzes the survey results of the current situation of Chinese-teaching and causes of the problems in the current Chinese-teaching in this school.Chapter Four sorts out and studies the causes of the problems existing in the Chinese curriculum after the investigation and give corresponding suggestions for different aspects.Chapter Five is the summary of the whole investigation.This investigation analyzes the Chinese language curriculum at the University through observation,interviews,questionnaires and case studies.The purpose of this investigation is to find out current problems in curriculum setting,teachers,students and textbooks,which will be analyzed for proposing solutions for each problem.This investigation can not only provide materials of Chinese courses' characteristics of the USA for future overseas teachers and volunteers who will be teaching abroad but also provide materials for scholars to study Chinese-teaching in China or abroad.
