After decades of development,popular music has become the most popular and most concerned form of culture and art in contemporary China,and it is attracting more and more people to think and study it from different perspectives.As a representative of contemporary Chinese pop music,Jay Chou's music style has distinctive personal characteristics and a huge audience.Jay Chou has been active in the pop music scene for nearly 20 years since 2000.Why is his music always sought after? Where is its appeal to the audience? In this article,Jay Chou's audience psychology is taken as a case.Based on the analysis of Jay Chou's music text,through online questionnaire surveys and "audience social type theory" as the theoretical basis,define Jay Chou's audience,determine the characteristics of Jay Chou's audience,from the perspective of the "use and satisfaction theory" of communication,combining the related theories of art,psychology and acceptance aesthetics to analyze the motivation and effect of Jay Chou's audience,in order to fully understand Jay Chou's audience and their psychology,so as to reveal the reasons behind Jay Chou's music popularity.This article is mainly divided into five parts.The introduction part expounds the significance of the research,summarizes the research literature related to Jay Chou's music,and described the research content and research methods of this article.In the first chapter,the development footprint of Chinese popular music is combed,and Jay Chou's music process is divided into three stages,and the overall characteristics of Jay Chou's music at different stages are described.In chapter two,based on the survey data of 1042 valid questionnaires collected on the questionnaire star website,combined with the audience social type theory,the group characteristics of Jay Chou's audience are summarized,and the root causes of each characteristic are analyzed.The third chapter,based on the survey data of the online questionnaire,takes the "use and satisfaction theory" as the starting point,from the psychological aspects of avoiding the deviation from the herd,the innate psychology of seeking differences,and the idol worship in the consumer era.Jay Chou's audience's motivation for acceptance wasexplored.Chapter IV follows Chapter 3.According to the survey data of the web questionnaire and "the theory of use and satisfaction",Jay Chou's music is divided into three levels: entertainment supremacy,self-identification under cultural degradation,and ethnic belonging under historical accumulation.The effect of audience acceptance was explored.
