Freedom has always been a wonderful state of life that people are pursuing. It has also become one of the hot issues debated by various philosophical schools in different historical periods and cultural backgrounds.Jean-Paul Sartre is an existential philosopher of the twentieth century in France,"Freedom" is a key issue in his philosophical system. The discussion of freedom is also the fulcrum that underpins Sartre's philosophy."Freedom is an element of my existence",from this statement,we can see the importance of "freedom" in Sartre's world.Firstly,we discuss the overall background and theoretical sources of Sartre's view of freedom, and summarizes the different stages of his view of freedom.France was plunged into economic, political, and war crises in the twentieth century, and people suffered as a result of these crises.Although the third technological revolution improved the material life of people at that time,it also caused people to become anxious and alienated. In this situation, the public desperately wants freedom. Therefore, the spiritual desire provided the development conditions for Sartre's view of freedom. In addition,it was inspired by the free thoughts of ancient Greece and some philosophers in modern times, which also promoted the construction of Sartre's view of freedom.Under the combined influence of these factors,Sartre published different philosophical works, and these philosophical works also reflected Sartre's profound understanding of freedom in different periods,So the evolution of his view of freedom needs to be summarized.Secondly,we focus on describing the basic content of Sartre's view of freedom. The research pays attention to the four aspects of freedom and for-itself: freedom and necessity, choice and responsibility, and personal freedom.Thirdly,we Start from the inner tension in Sartre's view of freedom, mainly discusses the content that cannot be self-explanatory and logically consistent in his view. Finally,we analyze Sartre's view of freedom from Marxist standpoint, reveal the theoretical flaws and theoretical values, and try to evaluate his view of freedom objectively. It is necessary to take a comprehensive understanding of Sartre's view of freedom.Because every idea has its own historical background,it should be understood in the light of the specific circumstances. We cannot completely deny Sartre's view of freedom because of its flaws. In addition to seeing the shortcomings,we should also see the flash points. It has some implications for us to understand freedom correctly, and it is also conducive to insisting on Marxism from multiple perspectives in the future.
