With the development of basic education and adjustment of examination system,the simple classroom teaching is difficult to meet the demands of students' learning.Therefore,extracurricular tutoring appears gradually and becomes widely popularity in society.On the other hand,the innovation of information technology boosts the development of internet and proposal of “Internet+Education”,which transfers extracurricular tutoring from offline to online.However,the relative study on the problem in extracurricular online tutoring is very limited.Therefore,it is essential to conduct the correlated study.Based on Constructivism Learning Theory and Connectivism Learning Theory,this study aims at exploring the English learning situation of junior high school students engaging in extracurricular online tutoring in the context of “Internet+Education” from the following three perspectives:Question 1: What is the situation of students engaging in extracurricular online tutoring?Question 2: What are the differences of online engagements in extracurricular online tutoring between high-score students and low-score students?Question 3: What are the differences of non-intellectual factors between high-score students and low-score students engaging in extracurricular online tutoring?The author selected 200 Grade Nine students and 200 parents from extracurricular online tutoring Platform A randomly as the subjects,whose English levels were the same generally before engaging in extracurricular online tutoring,and collected data with the help of questionnaire,interview and test.The data are analyzed with SPSS software.The findings show that:(1)From all round perspective,most parents and students evaluate extracurricular online tutoring highly.Parents believe that internet plays a significant role in teaching and learning process,which can meet students' learning needs so that students get higher grades than before.Most students are interested in extracurricular online tutoring.They can cooperate with online teachers to finish learning content actively,which gets obvious effect in English learning.(2)There are significant differences in student engagement between high-score students and low-score students.From cognitive,behavioral and affective perspective,high-score students can put their hearts into learning process in order to realize learning goals.(3)There are significant differences in non-intellectual factors between high-score students and low-score students.From the perspective of motivations and interests,learning styles and strategies as well as learning attitudes and characteristics,the high-score students have higher scores of non-intellectual factors compared with low-score students.Based on the findings and practical situation of extracurricular online tutoring,this study proposes some suggestions for extracurricular online tutoring platform.
