The Lexicalization Of The Multi-Category Words In "Xiang (?) X"

The multi-category words in"Xiang(?)X"is a special kind of"Xiang(?)X"words.In this paper,six words of"Xiang(?)X"are selected as our research objects,they are:"Xiang Yu(??)""Xiang Shi(??)""Xiang Zhi(??)""Xiang Dui(??)""Xiang Hao(??)"and"Xiang Fan(??)".According to the difference of internal structure,they can be divided into"Xiang(?)+verb"and"Xiang(?)+adjective".By analyzing their syntactic functions and semantic features in different historical periods,this paper combs the specific process of lexicalization into multi-category words,and explores the motivation and mechanism of lexicalization.The paper is divided into five chapters,the main contents of each chapter are as follows:The first chapter is the introduction.First,it defines the reason for the choice and research object,and then introduces the source of corpus and research methods of this paper.Last,it summarizes the current research situation of the multi-category words in "Xiang(?)X" from three aspects: the research of "Xiang(?)","Xiang(?)X" structure and "Xiang(?)X" case.Through the overview of the current research situation,we found that there is less systematic attention to the lexicalization of the multi-category words in "Xiang(?)X".The second and third chapters are the focus of this paper,the two chapters combine synchronic and diachronic.First,it analyzes the syntactic function,semantic and pragmatic characteristics of"Xiang(?)+verb"and"Xiang(?)+adjective"in modern Chinese on the synchronic plane,and determines that"Xiang Yu(??)""Xiang Shi(??)""Xiang Zhi(??)"are both verb and noun,"Xiang Dui(??)"is both verb and adverb,"Xiang Hao(??)"is both adjective,verb and noun,"Xiang Fan(??)"is both adjective and conjunction.Then,on this basis,we examine their development and evolution in different historical periods from diachronic perspective,and sort out the process of their lexicalization into multi-category words.Through the description and analysis of diachronic perspective,we found that the development period of"Xiang Yu(??)""Xiang Shi(??)""Xiang Zhi(??)"and"Xiang Hao(??)"is earlier,while the development of"Xiang Dui(??)"and"Xiang Fan(??)"is not mature until the modern Chinese period.The fourth chapter discusses the motivation and mechanism of the lexicalization.Through the analysis,we found that the development trend of disyllabic words,the weakening of Xiang(?)' s semantic,the low transitivity of X' s semantic,the syntactic function of "Xiang(?)X" structure excluding objects and the increase of usage frequency are the important factors that affect the lexicalization of such words.On this basis,this kind of words eventually develop into multi-category words under the influence of psychological block,metonymy and analogy.The fifth chapter is the conclusion,it summarizes the content of this paper and puts forward some personal opinions on the future research of "Xiang(?)X".
