| This paper investigates and analyzes the current situation of Chinese teaching in Cape Verde from the aspects of Chinese learners,Chinese teachers,textbooks and curriculum in Cape Verde.It analyzes the causes of the Chinese language of Cape Verde and the sustainability of Chinese teaching in Cape Verde.The main conclusions are as follows: First,Confucius Institutes,colleges and universities,middle school Chinese learners have different motivations for learning: Confucius Institute learners go on Chinese study mainly under tool-based motivation and integrative motivation.University Chinese learners are under Instrumental motivation and internal motivation,and Middle school Chinese learners are mainly driven by internal motivation and integration.Second,the Chinese teachers are mainly volunteer teachers dispatched by the Chinese Hanban.The proportion of graduate students is large,and female teachers are more than male teachers.Third,the use of Chinese textbooks are random in the 8 teaching spots.They tend to use single textbooks,lack of supplementary textbooks.The localization strategies of the textbooks include: localization of the needs of Chinese learners and teachers,strengthening cooperation with Cape Verde college textbook writing experts,developing standardized Chinese textbooks,and developing highly applicable Chinese accelerated textbooks and supplementary reading materials.Fourth,the Confucius Institute and each teaching spot only have single course,which is based on Chinese comprehensive courses and cultural courses,and the latter is mostly carried out in the way of cultural activities.The curriculum should be improved in the following aspects: close to the needs of the Cape Verdean society and students,to develop special courses,enrich curriculum,create cultural quality courses,increase the propaganda of Chinese cultural activities,raise funds to improve teaching conditions,establish a complete teaching management system,and improve the teaching quality of each teaching spot.From the economic and trade cooperation,cultural communication between China and Cape Verde,and the analysis of Cape Verde’s domestic policies,the main cause of the "Chinese craze" is: the deepening of economic and trade cooperation has stimulated the demand for Chinese language learning by Cape Verdeans.Expanding the influence of Chinese language and culture in Cape Verde,Cape Verde’s domestic policy is moving in the direction of Chinese teaching.The sustainable development of Chinese teaching should focus on stabilizing students,integrating resources,and using multi-party platforms to expand Chinese influence.It is necessary to strengthen cooperation with local media to develop Chinese programs in broadcasting Chinese and TV. |
