In recent years, different countries are paying their growing attention to the climate change and have also further enhanced the cooperation.Climate change is a universal problem and the translation of meteorological text needs to be explored. This report is based on Chapters three to five of A Change in the Weather, which describes the formation of climate and other meteorological phenomena.Sentences in this source text contain lots of casual relationships, which can cause great trouble to translation.Furthermore, little research has been done on the translation of casual relationship in meteorological text.Based on Relevance Theory, this thesis proposes four practical methods for the translation of casual relationship in meteorological text. This report will give readers a profound understanding of weather events and their effects as well as the translation methods for meteorological text.Through the translation of the meteorological text A Change in the Weather, the translator attempts to conduct a study of the translation of causal relationship under the guidance of Relevance Theory. In order to correctly understand the natural language,Sperber and Wilson have pointed out that we must find the connection between different languages through reasoning and the translator should accurately convey the original author's meaning in translation. The causal relationship between Chinese and English is special and complicated,so improper translation often causes many problems. This report analyzes the syntactic structure and contextual meaning of sentences including causal relationship and studies the influence of thinking differences between Chinese and English on the translation process.Through case studies, the following practical methods are proposed: sequential translation, reverse translation, covert translation and overt translation. This report is divided into six chapters. The first chapter gives an introduction to the research background, the significance of the study. The second chapter briefly describes the translation task. The third chapter introduces the preparations before translation, the process of translation and the proofreading after translation. The fourth chapter summarizes the theoretical framework of Relevance Theory and analyzes the differences of causality between English and Chinese. The fifth chapter discusses the translation methods used for causal relationship on the basis of case analyses. The sixth chapter summarizes the report, and also points out shortcomings in the process.
