| This is a report on the Translation of Statistical Communique of National Economy and Social Development of Ninghai County in 2016(hereinafter referred to Statistical Communique).Statistical Communique is a type of Report on the Work of the Government with the main function of conveying information.The original text begins as the overall description of Ninghai economy,followed by Agriculture and Rural Areas,Industry,Building Industry and Power Supply Industry,Fixed Asset Investment and Real Estate,Domestic Trade,Foreign Economy,Tourism and Exhibitions,Traffic and Posts,Finance and Insurance,Technology,Education and Talent,Culture,Sanitation and Sports,Urban Construction and Environmental Protection,Population,People’s Lives and Social Security to illustrate national economy and social development of Ninghai County.This article is guided by functional equivalence theory,which is put forward by American linguist Eugene Nida.Through analyzing the whole text,it can be seen that,to some extent,functional equivalence theory adapts to government documents.Functional equivalence theory highlights equivalence in language and culture and communicate with reorganizing the form and structure of information in a proper way.The article belongs to the type of government work report,on the basis of conveying the meaning of original text,attention will be paid to information conveying and language expression as well as reading habit of foreign readers and acceptance.In order to realize communication,translators can use proper translation strategies to make sure fluency of the translated version.The article consists of six chapters.Chapter One is an introduction of translation project.Chapter Two is about procedure description of translation task.Chapter Three is about text analysis,with the main contents of lexical features,syntactic features and textual features.Chapter Four introduces functional equivalence theory and its application.Chapter Five is case study.Chapter Six is conclusion of the reflection on the translation project,and limitations and suggestions for further research. |
