| As one of the minorities,the Manchu nationality has exerted a significant influence on Chinese history.Translation of Manchu culture can better serve its international communication and provide some references for translation of cultures of other ethnic minority groups.This translation report is based on the translator’s translation practice and the source texts consist of Part Three of Chapter Five,Part Four and Part Five of Chapter Six,which are all excerpted from Manchu of China,and the introduction of China(Fushun)Manchu-Themed International Tourism Festival.By analyzing the source texts where there are a number of culture-loaded words as well as long and difficult sentences,the translator employs Skopos Theory as the guiding theory to better solve difficulties in the translation,so as to improve the quality of translated textsIn the report,the first part describes the task of the translation project and the second part describes the process of the translation project in which the guiding significance of Skopos Theory to the translation practice is analyzed.In the third part of the report which is the main body of the report,under the guidance of Skopos Theory,examples are set to analyze difficulties in the translation in terms of morphology and syntax.By analyzing these examples,the translator comes up with transliteration with annotation,literal translation with annotation,free translation and translation with pictures to translate culture-loaded words while proposing employing amplification,abridgment and division to translate long and difficult sentences.The last part of the report summarizes what has been learned and what needs improving in the translation project,and reflects on translation of minority culture. |
