In recent years,China's manufacturing industry has continued to develop rapidly and it ranks at the forefront of the world.Shanghai is an important manufacturing center in China, and it plays a leading role in the transformation and upgrading of the national manufacturing industry. The documentary selected in this practice report introduces the representative brands and industries in “Made in Shanghai”.Effectively translating such documentaries is conducive to improving the world's understanding of Chinese manufacturing. This is a practice report of Chinese-English consecutive interpreting which takes the first episode Treasures and the third episode Inheritance of the documentary Made in Shanghai as an example. Both redundancy generated in the interpreting process from the source language to the target language and the redundant information in the source language are among the major difficulties in consecutive interpreting. It is necessary to propose coping strategies of interpretation. In the process of interpreting the documentary Made in Shanghai,it is manifested that redundancy is mainly caused by cultural differences, semantic connotation and information overload. The case analyses show that amplification and free translation can reasonably solve the redundancy caused by cultural differences, omission, condensation, substitution can greatly alleviate the redundancy caused by semantic connotation, and abridgement and recasting can efficiently handle the redundancy caused by information overload. These methods can not only improve the interpretation efficiency of interpreters, but also can provide reference for future interpretation of similar documentaries.
