Topomym word,which carries toponymic information,belongs to a kind of proper nouns,and is an integral part of language vocabulary.Dialectal Topomym word belongs to dialect vocabulary,which has strong local color,and is unique in modality and meaning.Modality includes pronunciation,writing and word-building of Topomym word.Meaning contains rational meaning and motivation meaning.Rational meaning is the feature of geographic entities named by place names,and motivation meaning is the motivation of naming place names and the cultural connotation behind it.This paper takes 2757 dialectal Topomym words as the research objects,and is guided by the theories of general linguistics,historical linguistics and comparative linguistics.The paper summarizes and analyzes the modality and meaning of Topomym words in Tangchang County systematically,using a series of methods,including survey,description,comparison and statistics.The conclusion of this paper contributes to the study of linguistics,and provides new ideas for the study of history,culture and geography.Simultaneously,it provides some reference for the local place name standardization.In terms of the phonetic features,this paper mainly analyzes the pronunciation rules of the dialectal Topomym words in Tangchang County by combining with the dialects.First of all,it is concluded that Tangchang County dialect has 25 consonants,32 vowels and 4 tones,and a brief description of the corresponding relationship between dialect and standard mandarin and phonological characteristics is given,which provides theoretical support for the analysis of the inconsistency between phonetic description and transcribing of the place names.Secondly,the paper investigates and sums up the phenomenon of continuous tone change,caterization,assimilation,dissimilation,weakening and falling off in the pronunciation of the dialectal Topomym words in Tangchang.Lastly,the syllable composition and tonal pattern of dialectal place names in Tanchang is analyzed.The result shows that the trisyllabic words have an overall majority,and Topomym words are mainly in ping tone.The paper mainly discusses the external and internal forms of dialectal Topomym words in Tangchang County in aspects of common nouns and proper nouns.There are 108 kinds of common nouns in Tangchang dialects,including 58 kinds of natural entity and 50 kinds of human entity.The common name“ditch" appears most frequently,followed by "mountain" and "beam".Most of the proper nouns are compound words,and a few of the proper nouns are simple words.The compound proper nouns can be divided into three categories:combining,additional and overlapping.Among these nouns,the combing nouns can be divided into subject predicate type,joint type,partial positive type and verb object type,and the additional nouns can be divided into pre-additional type and post-additional type.The proper nouns of dialectal Topomym words in Tangchang County are mainly belongs to partial positive type.The paper discusses the nomenclature based on the actual meaning of Topomym words in Tangchang County.It can be divided into two types:natural elements and humanism elements.Natural elements include mountains,landforms,water,natural resources,directions,etc.,among which the number of place names named after mountains and landforms is the largest,which fully shows the diverse landform of Tangchang County.Humanism elements include surnames,characters,cultural buildings,transportation,industry and commerce,historical stories and folklores,and the naming of good word and beautiful wishes,among which the number of place names named by surname is the most,up to 435,accounting for 15.78%of the total investigated place names.In addition,some place names are named based on minority languages,like Awu((?))?Bieleng((?))?Geleng((?))etc.This paper investigates the diction of dialectal Topomym words in Tangchang County in terms of phenomenon and pronunciation.Dialect pronunciation often affects the choice of place names.For example,the place name“?? ?”is written as“??? ".There are some toponymic words with big difference in pronunciation from standard mandarin in dialectal Topomym words in Tangchang County.For example,the noun“?”is read as[k'a53],the noun“?”is read as[sa33],etc.We put forward some suggestions on the standardization of place names in Tangchang County according to the research results in this paper.This paper summarizes the following characteristics based on the study of dialectal Topomym words in Tangchang County:first of all,the place nouns are inherited,which are not only manifested in external forms,but also embedded in the inner emotions of these place nouns.secondly,the place nouns are regional,which reflect the locality and customs of Tangchang County.Lastly,the place nouns are contacted,which show different languages and cultures in Tangchang.
