This report is the author's practice report on simulated simultaneous interpreting of the first two episodes of the documentary Tides from Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Region. This report elaborates on this simulated interpreting practice.Guided by China's policy “opening further to the outside world”,cultural exchanges and cooperation between China and other countries have been strengthened.Meanwhile, with the rapid development of China, the world is paying more attention to China.Hence,to tell China's stories well is a new issue for us.Documentaries,as a distinctive form of television, are important media and tools for international communication. Many Chinese documentaries record the changes in Chinese society from an objective and just perspective, reflecting the spirit of Chinese culture and the far-reaching influence of the policies made by the state and the CPC.However, there are few high-quality English translation or interpreting versions among most of the existing Chinese documentaries, which makes audience from overseas lack a window to know more about China.Against this backdrop, the first two episodes of the documentary Tides from Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Region is chosen as the material to conduct the simulated simultaneous interpreting practice.Through analysis of the records of the interpreting process, this report finds out the difficulties in the interpreting process, which are the Chinese culture-loaded expressions, high information density, figures interpreting and syntactic differences. In the process of writing this report, the author mainly uses descriptive method, inductive method, analytical method, etc.Corresponding solutions are put forward to these difficulties: omission,anticipation,note-taking,and chunking. The author hopes to better reflect on the interpreting task and put forward more targeted techniques to solve the difficulties. Also, the author hopes that this report can provide reference for those who are engaged in interpreting.
