A Project Report On Simulated English-Chinese Simultaneous Interpreting Of 11th Annul Nicos Poulantzas Memorial Lecture

This is a report on the simulated English-Chinese simultaneous interpreting of the keynote speech delivered by Professor Angela Devis at 11 th Annul Nicos Poulantzas Memorial Lecture in Greece,2018.With the development of society and economy,attention has been paid on human rights.However,we have known little about the development of feminism movements abroad.The English-Chinese interpreting of this speech is of great importance for Chinese readers to further have awareness of the abolition feminism in foreign countries.By analyzing similar speech,the interpreter applies the Effort Models proposed by Gile to solve the problems she encounters in the practice,such as interpreting the language of high spontaneity,long and difficult sentences,and technical information.Under the guidance of the Effort Models,the interpreter follows the principles of syntactic linearity and anticipation,and uses many strategies and methods,including waiting,omission,augmentation and reformulation to solve the problems during the interpreting.The interpreter hopes the report could shed light on the simultaneous interpreting of similar kind.
