This thesis is a reflective report based on the translation of A Study on the Development and Investment Opportunities of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Region in the Integration Process which is a research report selected from The Annual Report of China’s Investment Development Report(2015) published by Social Sciences Academic Press(China). The source text is related to the economy, in which a large number of modifiers, run-on sentences, verbs and non-subject sentences are used. Due to this, the author meets quite a challenge in the translation practice. In addition, it also has the features of governmental documents, namely, rich content and objective viewpoints, so the author has to modestly select words to avoid ambiguity.Based on the analysis of the features of the source text, the author sums up some difficulties met during the translation of the source text from three aspects and puts forward corresponding translation methods, such as omission, literal translation, free translation, and division. These methods are adopted to solve three major difficulties in the translation of the source text: redundant expressions, Chinese-culture-loaded words and Chinese run-on sentences. Furthermore, the author summarizes the rules and lessons through illustrating typical examples, which will provide reference to the translation task with similar styles.
