During the past two years,the British animation character Peppa Pig has been a big hit in China.Especially in the film schedule of the Spring Festival,the Peppa Pig became one of the most popular celebrities by means of the Year of Pig.The animated film Peppa Pig celebrates the New Year,which is full of Chinese elements,gained national craze and made the topic of civil discussion.Furthermore,the promotional video of the film What is Pegga Pig spread like virus.Chinese elements not only made Peppa Pig become an icon in China,but also has helped American animated films Mulan and Kung Fu Panda economically succeeded in film markets,and these two films also inspired the thoughts of Chinese animated film makers.Chinese elements are material and mental contents full of Chinese characteristics which stand for Chinese images,and Chinese excellent culture is the essential part.Chinese animated film has experienced about eighty-years-old history,during which the Chinese school sparked because of its successful use of Chinese elements.Chinese elements are artistically absorbed in the plots,role modelling,scenes and music of American animated films,and Chinese philosophical thoughts and swordsman elements are also contained.However,what American animated films want to express is still American values and Chinese elements are just the appearances.Adding in western understandings of Chinese elements,American animated films appropriately combine Chinese elements and contemporary elements,and insist the opera music and the American comedy style.The globalized development of Chinese animated films is hindered by the inadequate exploration of creation resources,too didactic feature,low acceptance level abroad,insufficient value express and the incorrect definition of the audience's age.To solve the problems above,Chinese animated films should explore the diversity of Chinese elements under the guidance of insisting the nationalization way,take advantage of Chinese elements to express Chinese values,do well in cultural translation,enrich the material resources,improve the production quality,pay equal attention to entertaining and educating function,and promote the industrialization of animated films.
