On The Translation Of English Long Sentences In Technical Code FAA Order 1800.66,Configuration Management Policy

Translating long sentences from English to Chinese has long been a demanding task,especially when it comes to specific fields like technical code texts.Written in formal style,the technical code embodies characters of both legal texts and technical texts.Though numerous researchers have studied on technical translation or legal translation,only a few have conducted research on specific technical codes or technical standards.This paper explores the long sentences splitting techniques and translation approaches involved in the translation of long sentences in technical code texts,aiming to truthfully transmit the information of source texts to the readers.Examples of the E-C translation of FAA Order 1800.66,Configuration Management Policy are cited to support the author's summarized techniques of splitting among and within clauses,which shall facilitate the translation and shed some light on the practice of E-C translation of long sentences in technical code texts.
