Research On Gezai Opera From The Perspective Of A Ritual View Of Communication

The history of the dissemination of Gezai Opera is a history of people's communication across the Taiwan Strait.As a cultural link between the two sides of the Taiwan Strait,Gezai Opera is a traditional opera,but also a ritual.For the public in Southern Fujian,the content of folk opera has been well known,and its values are also out of line with the times.However,people still enjoy the opera in folk occasions,which shows that the value of folk opera as aritual is valued by the people.Over the past hundred years,Gezai Opera has maintained the feelings of the people on both sides of the Taiwan Strait through time,bearing the identity of the ethnic groups in Southern Fujian.It often attracts the people of Southern Fujian together as a ethnic group ritual to realize the imagination and maintenance of the community of ethnic groups in Southern Fujian.Therefore,this paper analyzes Gezai Opera from the perspective of ritual theory of communication,using the methods of literature analysis and field investigation,and in the process of specific analysis,the following conclusions are drawn.Firstly,in the process of research on the ritual of Gezi Opera,it is found that the division of the two communication views is not completely separate like the Chu and Han.The ritual of Gezi Opera must include the concept of transmission.A complete grand ritual of Gezi Opera is composed of many small rituals.Many small rituals are often constructed by numerous information transmission.All the single information elements serve the ritual together.It can be seen that cultural sharing and the establishment of community are closely related to the concept of transmission.In such a ritual atmosphere,due to similar experiences and beliefs,all participants jointly perceive the information conveyed by Gezai Opera,and accomplish meaning exchange,then realize identity confirmation and cultural sharing,and enhance ethnic cohesion.Secondly,regardless of the field of folk custom or political field,Gezai Opera has great significance in shaping individual characteristics and dividing group boundaries.Gezai Opera is a traditional opera,but also a ritual.The common people pay more attention to the dissemination value of Gezai Opera,such as the sharing of ritual meaning and belief.Compared with other plays,the political field is the most special communication field,special breeding soil and cultural value give the unique era value to the opera.Thirdly,Gezai Opera is a special ritual that draws people from southern Fujian together as a common group.It must have its unique "symbolism" and "representativeness".A performance of Gezai Opera is a set of presentation mode of systematic symbolic symbols.The audience understand Gezai Opera through visual symbols and auditory symbols to interact deeply with the group and society and realize meaning sharing and identity confirmation.The performance of Gezi Opera in folk occasions is exactly in the traditional society following "propriety".The space and time meaning represented by the stage and the altar transcends the natural daily life track and enters the historical cultural category.Fourthly,with the development of the times,the ritual value of folk opera also changes.From the early stage of human and God entertainment to the main entertainment of God,its ritual value has been continuously strengthened.In folk occasions,Gezai Opera shows the situation of peopleand gods sharing entertainment.while in official occasions,Gezai Opera is mostly related to political ideology.In short,the former emphasizes ritual,while the latter emphasizes opera.The situation created by Gezi Opera is mostly related to clan belief and local concept.Its ritual purposes are mainly three points: the communication of human and God,identity confirmation and group identity,feudal culture and traditional virtue,entertainment and carnival.The communication of human and God is the primary purpose,and feudal culture is gradually abandoned by the times,and the joy brought by ritual far exceeds the opera itself.Fifthly,the main reasons for the crisis are as follows: the decline of cultural shared space,namely the disappearance of psychological field and physical field,and the disappearance of physical field mainly due to the decline of memorial building sand the lack of opera innovation.So this paper puts forward corresponding suggestions: calling on everyone to pay attention to "sharing the heritage of history" and returning to the materiality of the building,and pay attention to the dissemination of Gezai Opera in transmission and ritual.To sum up,this paper explores the deep cultural factors behind the Minnan opera from the perspective of ritual,focusing on the analysis of opera types,ritual elements and the spread of the ritual in different fields,in-depth understanding of the culture behind the opera,exploring the reasons for its survival difficulties,and then reflecting on the development of local operas in China.It also makes a certain progress in the theory innovation obout “Ritual View of Communication” in degree.
