A Report On The Translation Of Save Me The Plums:the Gourmet Memoir (Excerpts) Under The Guidance Of The Eco-translatology

As a cultural exchange activity,the translation is also the process of culture re-creation and presentation.This translation report is completed on the basis of Save Me the Plums: The Gourmet Memoir,taking the memoir of the former food critic Ruth Reichl as research object,and Chapters 7 and 8 as the translation text.It tells a series of stories during the period when she works as editor-in-chief of Gourmet,describing the heyday of Gourmet magazine,and introduces the knowledge of many fields such as magazines and food.This translation practice adopts the Eco-Translatology proposed by Professor Hu Gengshen.It mainly consists of five parts.Chapter One mainly introduces the domestic and foreign research status,application value and practical significance of Eco-Translatology and Save Me the Plums: The Gourmet Memoir.Chapter Two is task description,explaining the background,author,features and difficulties of the original text,and theoretical introduction.Chapter Three is the translation process description which includes pre-translation preparation,translation process and post-translation proofreading.Chapter Four is the case analysis.The translator analyzes and summarizes the special vocabularies,complex sentences,and dialogue expressions,and adopts different translation techniques such as addition translation,literal translation,free translation and so on,to complete this translation under the guidance of three-dimensional adaptive selections of Eco-Translatology,including language,cultural and communicative dimension.Chapter Five is the conclusion.In this chapter,the translator mainly summarizes translation practice,reflects on the entire translation process,concludes the experiences and unsolved problems in translating and writing this report,and expresses the wish in the future study.In the process,the translator gets a further understanding of the translation strategy of the three-dimensional transformation.At the same time,this translation practice will provide a reference case for translation work of the similar subjects.
