Abstract/Summary:
Nowadays, human’s accelerating pace of new energy exploration has witnessed the expansion of energy resources from non-renewable area to renewable one with the development of science and technology. And from a renewable perspective,Natural Gas Hydrate —the 173 th minerals in China,is regarded as the material to study. The translator chooses the second chapter of Exploration and Production of Oceanic Natural Gas Hydrate:Critical Factors for Commercialization, which captures the basic elements of NGH that are important for its exploration and production and its characteristics. In order to finish this translation report, the author uses Peter Newmark’s Text Typology, especially its communicative translation and informative translation in translation practice covering these aspects: words, sentences, paragraphs and texts. And the translator has learned more about Natural Gas Hydrate and Text Typology by substantial translation practice and polishing. The report is divided into four parts, namely task description, process description, case analysis and conclusion. The first part analyzes the source of the text and its significance of translation. The second part is about preparations before translation and the whole translation process. In the case analysis part, examples are elaborated on lexical, syntactic and textual levels respectively. Finally, the translation experience and conclusion are drawn.
