Recent years have witnessed the development of online media,the convenience of transportation means as well as the improvement of people's livelihood.As a result,tourism has become an indispensable recreational activity.What's more,the increasingly closer international communication allows foreigners to experience unique Chinese culture and customs.However,language barrier can impact their travel experience.Hence,interpreters are needed to help deliver messages from tour guide to foreign tourists so that they can better understand Chinese culture and China's image can be improved.In essence,guide interpreting is a form of cross-cultural communication activity.The main difficulties lie in intensive information and too many culture-loaded words.Guided by the interpretive theory,the report analyses difficulties encountered by the author when she worked as a guide interpreter at Sanqing Mountain and puts forward coping tactics.With the practice at Sanqing Mountain as the case,the report firstly introduces the interpreting task,tourist background information and then describes the whole process from pre-task preparation,on-site interpreting to reflection.As for the difficulties encountered by the author,the report also comes up with related coping tactics,such as sentence restructuring,paraphrasing,addition and omission.And specific sentences are provided as examples to clarify the tactics.Through this practice,the author has got a deeper understanding of guide interpreting and has known her own weak points in interpreting.At last,the report is anticipated to be of help to those interested in guide interpreting.
