A Report On Guide Interpreting At The Mount Qingcheng Under The Guidance Of The Interpretive Theory

As China continues to develop,exchanges between China and other countries in the world are becoming more frequent,and interactions between China and foreign countries in the field of culture and tourism are also developing.The rapid development of the tourism industry has led to greater demand and higher requirements for interpreters.Guide interpreting is an important way for foreign tourists to appreciate Chinese culture.Therefore,the importance of research on guide interpreting has become increasingly prominent.Based on the author’s practice of the guide interpreting project in Mount Qingcheng in the 2021 summer vacation,this report provides a comprehensive analysis of the difficulties encountered in the interpreting process,including difficulties in comprehension of the meaning,illogic and redundancy,and cultural differences.In order to tackle the above problems,the author applies interpreting strategies such as reasonable speculation,amplification,omission and free translation to solve the problems in comprehension,deverbalization,and reformulation under the guidance of the Interpretive Theory.Finally,the interpreting practice is summarized and reflected,including the experience of the whole interpreting practice and the reflection on the future development of guide interpreting for tourism.Through this guide interpreting practice,the author has learned to apply the Interpretive Theory to practice under the guidance of it.During the interpreting process,the interpreter should be flexible in dealing with the problems encountered.The interpreter should not be confined to the source language but should make appropriate adjustments to the target language by considering the cultural differences and communication situation between the two countries.At the same time,the interpreter also needs to be fully prepared before interpreting,adjust her mentality during the interpreting process,and improve her ability to tackle problems.The guide interpreting at Mount Qingcheng has also laid a solid foundation for the author’s translation and interpreting work and hopes to provide some inspiration and reference for guide interpreters in the future.
