With the continuous development of the economy,international cross-cultural exchanges are increasingly frequent,and various contracts will inevitably be signed.In order to make trade between countries proceed smoothly,the precise translation of business contracts is particularly important.Commercial contracts,stipulating the rights and obligations of the parties to the contract,have legal effect.And the words used in business contracts need to be rigorous,accurate and standardized,which conform to the nature of contract documents.The translation practice report is based on the translation process of Qingdao Commodity House Presale Contract.In the course of the implementation of this translation task,the translator first read through the original text and underlined the difficulties,determined the type of reader group of the target text and the actual environment in which the translation is used,and subsequently determined the translation theory applied to translate the original text.For the sake of making translation conform to the expectation of target language,the translator chose Vermeer's “skopos theory”.Archaic words,modal verbs,long and complicated sentences,passive voice,faithfulness of meaning and style are all problems encountered in the course of translation,so the translator listed these problems in the case analysis,and combined with skopos theory for detailed analysis,using translation methods such as literal translation,free translation,or techniques such as combination,and conversion,to explore these problems repeatedly so as to meet the quality requirements of translation.This report consists of five chapters.The first chapter is an introduction,including the background and significance.The second chapter is the task description,including text analysis and the entrusting party's requirements.The third is the translation process.The translation process is elaborated from three aspects: preparations before translation,implementation of translation,feedback after translation.The fourth chapter is case analysis,which is the core part of the whole thesis.The translator regards Vermeer's “skopos theory”(skopos rule,intratextual coherence rule and intertextual coherence rule)as a guide,combining translation methods and techniques with specific translation examples,and aims toanalyze the problems encountered in this translation practice and their solutions.The fifth summarizes the translation practice and reflects on the unresolved problems and the deficiencies in the report with the purpose of providing some references for similar texts encountered in future studies,life and work.Through this translation practice,the translator understood the language characteristics of business contracts,and realized the difficulties in the translation process of business contracts.The report also summarizes the experience gained in the translation practice,hoping to provide some references for the translation of business contracts,so as to improve efficiency and quality of business contract translation.
