In consecutive interpreting,note-taking is an important skill. It can help the interpreter to remember the keywords.Effective notes can have opposite effect. The interpreter can recall much more information by a word or a phrase.Second rate effective notes can also help the interpreter to recall information, but it is not as effective as effective notes.Meanwhile,if the interpreter spends too much time on note-taking,it will disturb the efforts of listening. And the low effective notes and ineffective notes can hardly help the interpreter to remember information. So,increase the efficiency of note-taking is an important way to increase the integrity, accuracy and fluency of a translation. This paper takes a Chinese lecture about diabetes as a case. The author wrote down the lecture and the translation and compared them with the notes. The author chooses and concludes 14 second rate effective notes and low effective notes as examples and then gives some coping strategies. There are 2 main reasons of second-rate effective notes and low effective notes. One reason is the interpreter fails to allocate effort properly at the listening stage,so the interpreter can't understand perfectly.Another reason is the improper layout of the notes. Therefore, the author gives several coping strategies. The interpreter should allocate more efforts on understanding during the listening stage.Meanwhile, the interpreter should use more signs and acronym rather than words and pay attention to the time to turn to next page.
