As China's international status improves,it is important to strengthen China's soft power.In recent years,with the deepening of reform and opening-up,China is introducing nation's political system and culture to the world by publishing the translated version of books in related fields.However,there are many China-specific political,social and cultural phenomenon,if translated badly,the meaning of the original text cannot be accurately delivered,and the effect of expression will be greatly reduced.Based on the case study of the English translations of 40 Years of Income Distribution Reform in China: Experience,Theory and Prospects,the thesis discusses the Chinese-English translation strategies of four kinds of China-specific expressions,namely,numeral abbreviations,policy concepts,three-character or four-character words,and common sayings.In view of the characteristics of the project,the thesis proposed the following translation strategies: adopting official translation that is already accepted by the target audience;imitative translation;adhering to English language grammar;adding background information to make translation acceptable and omission to improve the transmission of information,with a view to achieving the desired expression effect.
