Sri Lanka on the Indian Ocean has been an important interchange for the 21 st Century Maritime Silk Road.The rapidly developing and spreading of Chinese Language and Chinese culture in Sri Lanka performs a key role for friendly developing the relationship between China and Sri Lanka.CRI Sri Lanka Confucius center,founded in 2009,has always played an extremely important role in Chinese language education in Sri Lanka.But there are few empirical studies on the Chinese teaching of CRI Confucius Centre in Sri Lanka.The author used to fortunately be a Chinese teacher volunteer in CRI Sri Lanka Confucius Center.During this period,the author combed the relevant literature,understood the spread of the Chinese language in ancient and modern Sri Lanka,and collected the first-hand information about CRI Sri Lanka Confucius Center,focused on the development status of CRI Confucius Center: the development history,the personal system,the school-running mode,scholarship status,setting of curriculum,the students,textbooks,test & assessment and cultural activities.Then the author fully understand the situation about learner's learning and teacher's teaching by teaching observation and systematically analyzing survey results by comparing the questionnaire between teachers' and students'.To sum up the problems and challenges facing CRI Confucius Center.Mainly for having failed to take advantage of CRI,the curriculum are inappropriate,the teaching management is imperfect,the lack of practicality of teaching materials,improper use of teaching materials and facilities,the lack of quality localized resources,many learners' motivation are unstable,the sharp drop of the number of learners,the teaching evolution is incomplete,cultural activities need to be enriched.In view of the above problems,the author put forward corresponding solutions with CRI Confucius Center conditions and national conditions in Sri Lanka.It mainly includes improving the curriculum,standardizing the management,effective using of teaching materials,optimizing teacher structure,enriching Chinese cultural teaching,using CRI mass media and new media resources and so on.Hope this thesis can fill the gap in the current research of CRI Confucius Center,flourish the development of Chinese language and promote the dissemination of Chinese Culture further.
