A Project Report On The Conference Interpreting In An Automotive Parts Enterprise

The reporter worked as an intern at Bosch from July 2019 to October 2019,and undertook the department’s interpretation work during this period.And this report is based on the reporter’s Chinese-English conference interpretation work.During the interpretation process,the reporter encountered a variety of difficulties,which can be divided into two categories: difficulties caused by the interpreter’s internal factors and external factors.The former one mainly includes four aspects: unfamiliarity with V2X-related terminology and background knowledge,note-taking problems of the interpreter,and lack of cohesion;and the latter one includes excessively rapid and informative speech and the psychological pressure from the bilingual over-hearer.Based on the transcripts of the interpretation project and joining upon the research results of others,the reporter proposed the following corresponding solutions to the above problems: with regard to the difficulties caused by the interpreter’s internal factors,the reporter should make a glossary of terms,get familiar with relative background knowledge in advance,improve the way of taking notes and add conjunctions appropriately to make the interpretation sound more cohesive.With regard to the difficulties caused by the interpreter’s external factors,the reporter should communicate more with the speaker and handle the stress properly.The reporter analyzed the transcripts of this interpretation project,hoping to provide some references for interpreters engaged in the same area.
