| One of the basic concerns of the anthropological study on disaster is the complex interaction between human society and environment system.Researchers often pay attention on how the environment brings the social influence in relevant studies. After the Wenchuan Earthquake, the overall relocation of Beichuan County led to a significant change of Beichuan people’ s lives. How do people adjust their new lives in the relocated town? This study, choose Xinjie,Beichuan County as the fieldsite, adopting the theory of cultural change and the community resilience to explain the process of community resilience and cultural reconstruction in the post-disaster recovery of the Xinjie community. This article includes three parts:introduction, the main body, and a discussion with conclusion. The first part is the introduction, including the research origin, literature review, research method, and a brief introduction of the fieldsite. The second part is the main body that consisted of three chapters. The first chapter introduces the mode of production:the mountain agriculture,self-employed business, and working for other people;the three major livelihoods are employed to describe the livelihood transformation of the villagers of Xinjie. The second chapter introduces the lifestyle, displays local people’s living space have changed from the "country self built courtyard" to the "city unit cell";and people’ s identity have also changed from the "rural farmers" to the "urban residents";moreover, the social relations of the relocated community have changed from the "village committee" to the "neighborhood committee";all the three aspects reveal the change of the local culture. The third chapter pays attention to the families and individuals:many family structures have changed from "expand family"to "nuclear family";people’ s marriage life have shifted from the"earthquake widowed" to remarriage and rebirth;and this chapter also sheds light on special cases like "disability and suicide".From these three aspects, this chapter demonstrates how people choose their Post-disaster Survival Strategy, and their adaptations in this unexpected social change. The fourth chapter is the conclusion, using the theory of cultural change, this chapter probes the remodeling process of local culture, which including cultural mutation phase, cultural adaptation phase, and the social and cultural change phase.By using the theory of community resilience, this paper explores the relationship between community resilience and the domination of state power in the post-disaster reconstruction. Finally, the paper comes out the conclusion that in the process of post-disaster reconstruction, the factors such as the dominance of state power, the involvement of external multi-forces,and the political, the economic and cultural level of the whole society are the causes and consequences of local social and cultural changes. In this study, the culture change that caused by the disaster is all by sudden, which is very different from other researches that focus on cultural changes. Moreover, the whole process of disaster recovery is the result of the interaction of the community resilience and the intervention of state power, especially in the later period of post-disaster reconstruction.Earthquake is not only a natural catastrophe,it has a close connection with politics, economy and culture. |
