| The development and utilization of the Lancang——Mekong River closely connect together.Facing all kinds of environment problems along with the development of the Mekong River Basin,all the riparian countries should take the responsibility to protect the water resource and to avoid natural disaster,due to the common interests of the shared river.To construct the common environment community among the riparian countries benefit six countries.First,The Mekong Basin plays an important role to China both in political and economic value.China has tried to build the Mekong River Basin into a good example of China’s periphery diplomatic relations.In recent years,China has a lot of trade with the Lower Mekong River countries.China is committed to develop environment—friendly relationship with the Lower Mekong River countries.China determined to develop the economy with a sustainable way.Besides,the lower Mekong countries,including Thailand,Laos,Vietnam,Cambodia,are eager to develop the Mekong River to boost the economy and diminish poverty,in order to improve the life condition.Second,however,the six countries face a lot of difficulties in order to construct common environment community.The six countries do not trust each other so much,due to weak regional identity,drive of national interests.Diverse political and economic goals and important cultural and historical difference have impended basin—wide cooperation.Furthern(?),the strong powers such as The USA,Japan,Australia and other big power involve in this region makes the situation more completed.Balancing the economic,political,and environmental interests in the basin is a highly complex task.To manage the Mekong River in a more effective and sustainable way,benefits both China and the Lower Mekong countries.More important,the riparian countries should forge a genuine、regional,cooperative and sustainable water management approach among each other and intense solidarity among the countries rather pursue its own perceived national interest. |
