Religion has a long history of charity.In modern times,charitable organizations with a religious background actively carry out charitable activities in various forms,exerting profound impacts in social affairs,such as helping vulnerable groups,funding education,medical and environmental protection.The religious charitable organizations devoting to social welfare not only alleviate the social contradiction,implanting the spirit of charity among people,but also create a stronger moral order,promote social civilization progress.The effect is positive and far-reaching effect.In order to do a good job in religious charity and to bring into full play the significance and value of serving the society,the government,the religious charity organizations and the social public should work together and push forward.Aiming to explore how the religious charities better participate in social welfare services,this paper systematically untangles the characteristics,superiority,historicaland realistic issues of the religious charitable organizations devoting to social welfare,and studies Nanputuo Temple Charitable Fondation and One Heart Charity through on-the-spot investigation,interview and analyzing data,comparing organization concepts and service contents of the two representative organizations,as well as summing up the achievements and difficulties when participating in social welfare services.Finally this paper puts forward suggestions for the Buddhist charity organizations to participate in social service:first,making clear the nature of Buddhist charity;second,implementing professional management just like the NPO organizational governance;third,cultivating professional volunteers to participate in social services;fourth,building effective connections between Buddhist charity resources with social charitable needs;fifth,promoting exchanges among charities and cooperation with government sector.
