In June 23rd 2016,Britain held a referendum on Brexit, which ended in 51.9%voters voting for leaving the EU.In March 29th 2017,British Prime Minister Theresa May officially announced the launch of Article 50 of the Lisbon Treaty. The Brexit process was formally launched. After the referendum, although EU countries subsequently declared at the EU summit that the EU must firmly defend the unity of the EU at the moment of"survival",the populist forces have risen in some member countries, such as the Netherlands,Denmark,France and Italy. The increasing political powers demand to leave the Euro Zone or the European Union, which are putting European Union unity to the test. The Euroscepticism reflected in the Brexit referendum has not dissipated in recent years with the enlargement and integration of the EU,but has been strengthened in recent years.Given the intricate international situation in 2016,both France and Germany have witnessed terrorist attacks, internal security problems are prominent in the European Union;there was a huge migration of refugees from the Middle East countries poured into Europe via Turkey and Greece because of the war and instability, and the refugee crisis in Europe continues to fester. To this end,Schengen countries were reopening security at their borders;the Netherlands was deeply at odds with Turkey over the revision of its constitution, which reflected the EU is dissatisfied with Turkey's referendum on constitutional amendment;and the economic gap between the euro zone countries remains clear. The debt problems of some countries remain unresolved;the National Front has gained support in France's general election, and its candidate Le Pen has made it clear in her platform that she wants France to leave the EU and restrict immigration. In Austria's 2016 presidential election, the far-right garnered high approval ratings, while Italy's failed constitutional referendum,anti-integration and anti-immigration party, the rise of the "Five-Star Movement",reflected the rise of European populism. It can be said that the EU in the Post-Brexit era is still full of problems and uncertainties. The success of the Brexit referendum has made the EU enter the Post-Brexit era, which also has a profound impact on the future development of the EU.The result of the referendum on Brexit has had a huge psychological and realistic impact on the EU,and the long negotiations on Brexit have amplified the conflict between Britain and the European Union. The steps and provisions of the negotiations are a tug-of-war for Britain and Europe.Behind the interest game lies the distrust between the two sides in decades of relations and even hundreds of years of relations.Brexit has had a great impact on the integration of the EU in political, economic, diplomatic and social aspects. How to maximize their own interests and reduce the adverse impact of Brexit is a challenge for both sides. The future direction of the EU will continue to be influenced by the UK,which concerns how the two sides deal with their relations. How the EU deals with the challenges posed by Brexit will also affect the future of the EU.
