Drug crime is one of the most serious non-traditional security issues in the world.As one of the largest drug production,Afghanistan is an important country in the northern route—Russia and Central Asian countries—of drug traffic.The increasingly rampant drug trafficking has seriously affected the economic development,social stability of the Russian and Central Asian countries,as well as health of their people.To cope with the threat of drug crime,Russia and the Central Asian countries actively launched a series of international cooperation in drug control combating drug crimes for regional security.It have great significance to study these cooperation mechanisms on regional security and international security.This study aims at four questions: What are the dangers of drugs? Why are Russia and Central Asian deeply affected by drug crimes? What mechanisms do Russia and Central Asian countries apply to cooperate? What are the prospects for cooperation in these cooperation mechanisms?To resolve questions mentioned above,especially the contributions to the prevention of drug crime in Central Asia by the information analysis platform of CARICC,the thesis firstly defines the concepts of “traditional security” and“non-traditional security”,discussing the current situation and causes of drug problems in Russia and Central Asian countries.Secondly,it focuses on cooperation between Russia and Central Asian countries in the fights against drug crimes under the framework of organizations,which covers Shanghai Cooperation Organization,Commonwealth of Independent States,Collective Security Treaty Organization,and Central Asian Regional Information and Coordination Center.Finally,it analyzes advantages and disadvantages of such cooperation to fight against drug crime under the four mechanisms,and give thoughts to the prospects for cooperation.
