Studying On Alleviation Of Loneliness Of Land-lost Empty Nesters Based On The Logotherapy

This study mainly focuses on empty-nesters who have lost their land and their children are not around.The first-hand information was collected with literature method,participative observation method and semi-structure interview method,and the main component factor analysis was used to determine whether these empty-nesters have feelings of loneliness.After describing the status of loneliness,the feelings of loneliness were classified and their causes were discussed.Then countermeasures were put forward with the theory of logotherapy.The purpose is to conduct a more in-depth discussion and interpretation of the research topic,and help the elderly find the meaning of life in the new stage with the above mentioned countermeasures.During the internship in the F agency located in Z community in Nanjing,China,the author selected 15 empty-nesters for semi-structure interviews.According to Chen Liwan,by using principal component factors,loneliness can be generalized as three main aspects:loneliness and helplessness,lack of friendship and weak sense of belonging.With the performance of the three aspects,the existence of loneliness among empty-nesters can be identified.The three concepts of theory of logotherapy,the image of people(including the body,the mind and the spirit),freedom and responsibility,and will of pursuing meaning of life,are used to describe the status of loneliness.According to the criteria of classification of loneliness put forward by Wu Jingji,the loneliness of the elderly is divided into existential loneliness,social loneliness and emotional loneliness.The three value ideas of theory of logotherapy,creative value,experiential value and attitudinal value which are applied to realize the meaning of life,are based on for making coping strategies for the loneliness of land-lost empty nesters.Results of the interview show that the elderly have the will to change their own situation and pursue the meaning of life.The analysis shows that adjusting the mentality,tapping the advantages,seeking new spiritual reliance,strengthening social relations and using community resources can help alleviate the loneliness of the elderly.This study has some enlightenment on the services for land-lost empty nesters.Social workers and institutions need to make full use of social resources and provide more opportunities for the elderly so that land-lost empty nesters can regain their awareness and supply their surplus value.With the help of the natural environment,the elderly may experience the beauty of the nature and another meaning of life.The government,community and institutions need not only to meet the material needs of the elderly but also to pay more attention to their inner world and spiritual needs avoiding the appearance of "lonely death" and allowing the elderly to enjoy their old age.
