In the wave of new populism swept across the globe in recent years, the rise of European populism has appeared most prominently. There have been black swan events such as the Brexit and Italy's constitutional referendum shaking the world. The populist political parties in Europe have also been extremely active. They have achieved unprecedented progress in national elections and have caused major political parties to feel great pressure. However,if we look closely,we can discover that this concentrated burst of European populism is a continuation of the rise of European populism at the beginning of the 21 st century. It can even be traced back to the third wave of populist upsurge at the end of the last century. The factors that led to the rise of European populism in the early 21 st century are both long-term and short-term crises.Specifically,it includes the negative effects of globalization and European integration, the confluence of European traditional left and right parties, the impact of the European debt crisis & the refugee crisis and the widespread use of new media such as the Internet.Under the impact of European populism,European society has undergone tremendous changes. The recovery and development of the European economy is hindered.New changes have taken place in the political landscape of European countries. The fragmentation of European society has intensified markedly. The EU and European integration has been directly threatened by European populism. In the near future, populism will continue to exist in Europe.Although the EU and European integration will be seriously affected,it will also continue to develop.
