The EU has adopted the One China principle as the policy tone in the field of politics since 2008,it has strengthened substantial contact with Taiwan,which includes high-level interactions and more exchange channel,the EU has supported its participation in international organizations in an appropriate capacity and output view of human rights to Taiwan.On the cross-strait issues,Eu welcomes cross-strait consultations and dialogues,but it believe that there should be no recourse to unilateral action,therefore the EU has maintained the ban on arms sales to China and restricted arms sales to Taiwan.In the field of economy,the EU has decided to free signing and open markets to promote the signing of investment guarantees and market access agreements for promote trade and stimulate investment.Culturally,the EU set the "Taiwan-European Union Research Center" to promote research in the field of Europe study and allows Taiwan to participate in the EU scientific research plan for strengthen technical cooperation,the EU hold various cultural activities for Western values of output and EU education.Among them,the “European Parliamentary Friends Taiwan Group” and the European Economic and Trade Office are the main implementation paths of the EU 's promotion policies.The fundamental driving force of the EU 's Taiwan policy is trade and investment in Taiwan for recover economic growth in the context of the European debt crisis;secondly,it is due to the vigorous promotion of the “The EU-Taiwan Friendship Group”.However,the important factor of development of The EU-Taiwan Relationship is that the cross-strait relations get better during Ma Ying-jeou 's time.Because the EU-Taiwan Relationship is the part of EU-China Relationship.It has a certain amount of room for the EU.which provided the EU with a certain policy space and became a key external factor.In the future,the EU 's Taiwan policy will continue to be concentrated in the economic and trade sector.However,after Tsai Ing-wen took office,the cross-strait relations have fallen into a “cold confrontation”,which will reduce the space for the EU 's Taiwan policy,The EU will no longer support Taiwan to anticipate internet organization,especially in the field of politics.In the field of economy,it will depend on a Multilateral game.It does not rule out that in the event of a rift in China-EU relations,the EU will further promote economic and trade relations with Taiwan.
