A Study On The Effect Of Family Care On The Health Of Older Adults

The report of the Nineteenth Party Congress proposed that the major contradictions of our country in the new period have been transformed into the contradiction between the people’s ever-growing needs for a better life and unbalanced and inadequate development.For the elderly,good health is the basis for their enjoyment of a good life.With the development and change of society,the ageing of our country’s population continues to deepen,and the care needs of the elderly,especially the oldest,are increasing day by day.Therefore,in rapid economic development,how to make full use of the advantages of family care,and to effectively improve the health of the elderly have important significance and urgency.Under the background of constructing “Healthy China”,the mechanism of family care for the health of the elderly,especially the oldest,is explored.This can clarify the role of family care in their care for the aged and find effective ways to improve their health.Not only does the old people have good protection,but it also allows them to feel happy.Based on the current status of care and actual needs of the elderly,combined with relevant literature and theories at home and abroad,this article starts with the perspective of senior citizens,and summarizes internal relationship between family care and the health of the elderly.Using Ordered Probit and OLS multiple regression model,it analyzes the mechanism of family care on the physiological health and mental health of older people and the possible differences in characteristics.Empirical analysis shows that,as a whole,family care has more health effects.Compared with older elderly people without family care,having a family care can significantly improve their health,but there are also differences in the degree of impact and related variables.Second,from the perspective of gender and disability of the elderly,we analyzed the impact of family care support in different groups.Family care has a significant effect on the health of older women,but it has no significant effect on older men.In addition,family care has a significant effect on the mental health of elderly people with severe disabilities and has a positive effect on self-reported health of minor disable the elderly.Furthermore,based on a comparative analysis of different sources of family care,spousal care and the care of children can also significantly improve the health status of older people compared to other care methods.Among them,spouses’ care has a greater impact than children.And try to analyze the reasons for the possible differences.Finally,this paper summarizes the research content and forms the research conclusions,and puts forward recommendations to improve family care decision-making from different dimensions: First,continuously optimize and improve family care functions and give policy support.Second,actively meet the personalized care needs of the elderly.Third,emphasizeand support home caregivers.Then,revisit traditional family concepts and cultures and enhance the health awareness and interactive awareness of the elderly.
